STDs are Scary So Read This
There seems to be a consistent rising trend that is seen on STD statistics every year in the United States and the rest of the world. To be more specific the rise in syphilis among men and women are big contributors to this trend. Part of the STD statistics is the rise in cases of chlamydia, as well as gonorrhea.
The problem with STD statistics is that it is likely to be inaccurate. There are chances that the current STD statistics do not have a number of undetected cases because STDs like Chlamydia rarely develop symptoms. Still, the growing numbers are frightening even if at times the numbers are understated.
This does not change the fact that there are a lot of people, and the numbers are growing, who are suffering from chlamydia, syphilis and gonorrhea. For instance, in 2007, chlamydia alone infected about a million individuals. That number was apparently higher than it was in the previous year. At the same time, there were 350000 diagnosed with gonorrhea in 2007. The number appears to grow higher each year.
The STD statistics also show that the most common among STDS is chlamydia and gonorrhea. Chlamydia may not easily manifest symptoms but can diagnosed easily. Gonorrhea, like chlamydia is also easy to be medically identified. The amazing news is that there is a cure for these two diseases especially when they are diagnosed early. If these diseases are not cured it can lead to other health issues like in women, PID or pelvic inflammatory disease and possibly infertility in both men and women. In women, these STDs can also lead to health issues like pelvic pain or ectopic pregnancy.
Chlamydia rarely leads to complications among man but they can be infected and this disease also cause infertility. Oppositely, gonorrhea in men is even more risky. if left untreated, it can lead to infertility or it can travel to the blood stream and the joints. Gonorrhea can be fatal in men.
What is the moral lesson in this story? This goes to show that awareness about STDs should be increased. The key to avoiding the spread of STD is awareness and at the same time it also help you know what steps you need to do if you get infected.
As the numbers on the STD statistics rise, so should the peoples need for safety practice. The statistics is a subtle reminder that there is a big risk of STDs when you have multiple partners. It also helps to learn how to properly use a condom.
Get your self checked if you have someone new in your life. You will also need to see a doctor for screening if your partner has cheated or is cheating. if people help each other become more aware, the STD statistics will stop rising.
